speak it into life

the magick of our voice

my voice contains my purpose. i just know that. when i was in elementary school, i’d make everybody laugh in the teachers’ lounge, by repeating the “adult” jokes that were told by my adult family members, during our family meals every sunday. i realized then that my voice is powerful, that even if i don’t really understand what i’m saying, the energy that my words carry is capable of spreading relief, love, laughter, pain, rage, wisdom, justice…

  • alex king-harris is a musician who shares the joy of finding one’s true voice. he uses breathwork exercises to help us relax so that our true hidden voice can emerge. no kidding, on my first try chanting along him, i received visions of me singing for a crowd. i not only met my inner voice, i also could feel the healing power of it. what a sacred gift.

  • krishna das is a vocalist focused in hindu devotional chants. he offers a myriad of albums and recorded workshops thru spotify, all of which reflect the love he has for the teachings of his guru: maharaj-ji . on his website krishna das we can find all the mantras, so we can chant along.

  • dr. fre recommends: “‘memories’ by june 11 (jan van der broeke) can transport us to a liminal space, between here and dreams. let the heartbeat lead you through layers of textures, and the voice of 93-year-old olga, reminiscing about her youth in colonial india; and explore that safe space”.

  • for the greeks, vocation means “inner voice”. in latin, it means “a calling to”. in our regular daily world it can refer to life goals, natural talents, or being guided towards something.

you see now how much our voice is related to our purpose. so let’s raise it, spread the word, speak it, cast spells! sing, chant, ring, rap, chit-chat!

repeat after me: my voice communicates my frequency; my voice attracts what i want; my voice is the voice of my ancestors; my voice sets my limits, my voice defines my boundaries; my voice has the power to heal others; my voice is worth money; my voice is valuable.

as alex king-harris taught us: our body is a one-of-a-kind instrument, and its unique music is our voice.

may us be willing to listen 🙏🏽

👂🏾👄 much love, mora
